The MMP Digital Length Gage functions like a very large Digital Caliper at a fraction of the cost. On the Digital Length Gage, one anvil is stationary, and the other anvil slides very easily on a UHMW bearing pad that has a low coefficient of friction, which ensures a smooth carriage travel with virtually no maintenance required.

Readings are displayed on a battery powered LCD Digital Readout that can display in inch, metric, or even fractional readings. The readings can be zeroed-out or referenced anywhere along the guide rail. The standard Digital Readout for the Digital Length Gage uses a C battery, so the entire unit can be moved around with a factory to wherever it is needed.
The encoders on the MMP use magnetic sending technology, so they work without contact and ensure a virtually wear free and maintenance free operation. This ensures high accuracy measurements for a lifetime.
Unlike rotary encoders, there are no moving parts. All the mechanical components found in rotary encoders (flange, shaft, bearings, etc)are not needed, which eliminates mechanical failures and deficiencies.
For thin sheet measuring, we recommend having a channel cut into the base. The movable anvil then has an extended part of the anvil that rides in the channel, this eliminates the possibility of the anvil slipping over the sheeting.
For round bars or tube measurements,we recommend having a V-Groove cut into the base. This allows the parts to sit stationary in the groove, making it easy to measure the lengths of the tubes without worrying about the tubes rolling off.
